With God

But who shall know Thee, O! my God? He who shall seek with his whole heart to know Thee, who shall know himself with approbation no longer, and to whom all that is not Thou shall be as though it were not! The world cannot receive this saying because it is full of self, and vanity, and lies, and is empty of God; but I trust that there will always be souls hungering for God, who will relish the truth which I am about to set forth.

About Jesus Christ. [from our Statement and Tenents of Faith]

Jesus is the one and only Son of God. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross.

He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heavens glory and is coming again soon as King of Kings and Lord of Lords to redeem His bride, the church.

1 Peter 1:1-25

English Standard Version (ESV)

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,

To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood:

May grace and peace be multiplied to you.

1.  There are ______ specific aspects of _________________.

1.  There are THREE specific aspects of SANCTIFICATION.

  Sanctification – Bing Dictionary

  1. make something holy: to give something holy status
  2. free somebody from sin: to perform a ritual or other act intended to free somebody from sin
  3. bless something through religious vow: to give a religious blessing to something such as a marriage, usually through an oath or vow

1st:  One Time Deal - It is our connection with Christ.  Our separation onto God.

1 Corinthians 1:30 ESV - And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

Hebrews 10:10 ESV - And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

2nd:  Hope for a glorified state.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 ESV - Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:27 ESV - To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

3rd:  We are responsible - Moving forward it is the obedience to the Word of God in our life.

Hebrews 12:14 ESV - Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

Born Again to a Living Hope

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,

5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,

7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,

9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully,

11 inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.

12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.

2.  _______ are meant for ______.

2.  TRAILS are meant for GOOD.

1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV - No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

James 1:12 ESV - Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Psalm 23:4 ESV - Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Called to Be Holy

13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,

15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,

16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile,

18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,

19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

20 He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you

21 who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart,

23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;

24 for

All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
and the flower falls,

25 but the word of the Lord remains forever. *

And this word is the good news that was preached to you.

*Isa 40:6, 8

3.  Be __________ and be ready to ______.

3.  Be PREPARED and be ready to WORK.

2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV - For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV - Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Deuteronomy 5:33 ESV - You shall walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you shall possess.

Psalm 119:105 ESV - Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Psalm 119:133 ESV - Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me.

God Bless
