Time to Learn

Time is an interesting beast.  I touched on it a bit in an earlier blog (here).  So in the time spent doing different things during the day I seek wisdom.  These 3 scriptures illustrate the point:

  • So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.
  • The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
  • For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

The scriptures are from Psalm 90:12, Proverbs 16:9, and Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV) and lead me to ask.

Are we learning daily so that our heart gains wisdom?
Do we seek the Lord as we make our day to day decisions?
Do we rely on the Lord in everything we do?

Tough questions.  Sometimes I don't like my answers.  In the New Year I've been more in Scripture whether it is prepping to write these devotionals or reading through packets with those I am discipling.  I find that my spiritual stewardship is very similar to taking vitamins and supplements.  As my body reacts in a positive way to the supplements and I feel better, so I feel better when I take care of my spiritual heart.

I know from my past what the Lord has asked of me (his plans) and I have a feeling of what is in store in the future, but I take encouragement and strength from the scripture.

The Lord knows his plans for me and I know that I need to learn.
